To all simmers! Does anyone know how to edit a panel or aircraft config in to make winglights (strobes and navigation lights) visable from a wingview. I can see them from the outside spotplane view, but not from the inside. Anyone?

You will need to replace the default light effect files in the FS9/effects folder, such as "navred...,navgre....,strobeh...., with the similar named effects from either IFDG, PMDG, or Project Opensky. You may already have them in the effects folder.

If you do, you need to make copies of those three files, rename them to match the default effects, then overwrite the default effects.

The IFDG, PMDG, etc effects are visible from the wingviews while the defaults are not.

You can also change each individual aircraft by editing the [lights] section of the aircraft.cfg file to call for the other files instead of the default ones.

That is very helpful! I have been very fustrated for years when I download a plane, download Ulitmate Wingviews and I don't see lights. (Project OpenSky CRJ for example).

Wilax, you were right, the effects for this particular IFDG MD11 automatically loaded into the main FS9 effects folder when you download the aircraft into the aircraft folder, or at least the read me file says it does. The problem is, when I go into the FS9 effects folder I couldn't easily tell which effect was from this MD11. What I did was add "Cockpit=1" and "VirtualCockpit=1" under [Properties], which indicates where the effects are visual from, the 1 indicating such. Some effects wereonly indicated as visablefrom the spot plane or tower views. I did this for all effects that even looked like nav or strobe lights. It worked. Thanks.
