Aircraft Type You Wish You'd Flown But Never Will

Tonight, I was watching Chuck Heston's 1972 film "Skyjacked" and it got me thinking...

The aircraft featured in most of the exteriors is N374WA, what I assume to be a Western 707.

I was born in 1979 with my first flight around 1981 or 82. I've flown on an EI 747 and a Delta L-1011... and a host of other aircraft that are no longer in service.

But I never got to fly in a 707, and there is a chance...given my age...that I probably could have flown on one.

My question to you all is what aircraft type that you realistically had the chance to fly on, but never did...and why?

I think there is only one answer to this question: Concorde. I never did because I had no need to fly LHR-JFK and it was a bit expensive to do it just for fun.

You will probably get a lot for the Concorde, myself included. However others that I missed by pure bad luck more than anything else include, Tristar, and Convair 880. I was lucky enough to fly a Convair 990. Add to those would be Russian airliners. When I did fly to the old USSR my flights were all on TU 154's and I so desperately wanted the TU134 at least once and the newer TU204. IL 62 and IL 86. Not out of the question yet but hopes are fading fast. Most others that I wanted to Fly on I have managed to do so.

Concorde (although I did get to go inside the BA Concorde at the Intrepid Museum but they don't seem to be taking good care of it)

MD-11 (there are still carriers flying passenger MD-11s but not too many)

Its not a question of if an Air France 773 will be at MSP, its just a question of when.

Just hop on one KL or AY flight on your next trip to Europe. There are still pretty good chances to fly on an MD11 these days. Not impossible  Wink

In 2000 I went to NYC for the first time and the Intrepid was a must see on my agenda. Like you say it's kind of disturbing they don't seem to be taking care of any aircraft at all, although when I went, the concorde was not there yet.

The Concorde, MD-11, 707, and DC-10.

Don't get to go to Europe often and even when I'm there I don't take domestic flights. Sucks, really.

Will you look back tomorrow and regret it?

That sucks indeed. And the MD11 of KL is often in Asia. So you should take a trip to HEL with the MD11 and then fly to THR and there you can take the 707 flight and then head to Bangladesh with their DC10 Big grin

Concorde  Sad

Second choice would be a BOAC VC10 to somewhere in Africa or Hong Kong.

I was born to fly.

I guess Concorde, the DC8 and DC10 will probably remain on my wish-list for ever, as will the TU134, TU154 and IL86.

Fortunately, I've been lucky enough to get the B707, B727 and the MD11 onto my "have flown on" list while they were still available (not that it's impossible to get onto an MD11 these days, but it used to be easier).

I think the RAF operates VC10's as troop transports. I also would liked to have flown VC10's but will never get to.  Sad

The USSR went out of existence in 1991. The Russian Federation hasn't been a communist nation since then.  Wink

I would also like to have flown in the Siddeley Hawker Trident. Sadly those of us who haven't flown in one will never get to do so.

Good Day  Smile
