Quoting Md95 (Reply 4): Another red/white Swiss color; how boring!!
yeah
The pink was great! why???
My theory holds true, the airlines with perfectly good liveries can't wait to get a crappy look. Thoses that DO need a change.. (like EL AL, Lufthansa) don't bother!

Swiss people disliked the magenta Helvetic image from the beginning. This new livery is not an improvement, not innovative rather boring. Anyway it does serve and satifies the Swiss public now but is this all they could come up with? Inspireless.

My first thought was that the company was acquired by Lufthansa and was being positioned as a Swiss partner. Guess that's not the case? Funny, I'd actually have thought that Swiss International might have trademark infringement with this one, even if it is the flag of Switzerland.

It looks better than that Pepto-Bismal colored livery they started out with.

Why a trademark infringement issue for LX? Only because their parent LH owns the SR brand and the tail looks a lot like the all red tail with the white cross that SR used to have?

The stuff is called Pepto-Bismol and it is great, I always drink it when I am in the USA, it repairs your stomach within minutes after a heavy carousal.
As for the livery, somehow I liked to old one better, the new one is boring and reminds me too much of Swissair.

In fact you are not allowed to use the Swiss flag as your main logo for commercial reasons...
There you see how many times the law gets broken .
As for Helvetic, they dropped their low cost services and their new customers are more conservative, the new conservative logo fits perfect with them .

Wasn't that the debate they just recently held? I think they are about to change the laws to what you have just stated above. Special permission will be have to be acquired to use the Swiss flag for commercial use.

Yes, so far in fact only State owned companies are allowed to use the flag.
Even Swiss would not qualify for this at the moment since they became a private owned company. In a lesser extend there is also Belair (as a relict of former SAirGroup) and Helvetic...
In fact the Swiss flag gets used so many times, souvenirs, watches, knives etc. but the law now sees some changes. Probably they will make a big change so that the flag can legally be used by private companies too. As you see it happens anyway and it's almost impossible to control.
The whole thing is not unproblematic. The image of a country in the hands of private companies...

Never knew, that Victorinox, Swatch and so on are state owned. But I guess, they are the same outlaws as Swiss International ...

26 SwissA330: No, they do need a 'prominent' swiss flag, just a small one next to the registration (as other swiss airlines or helvetic previously had) is enough.
27 Gerardo: Sorry, RJ100, but I rather listen to the pro's in this area. No offence meant Gerardo
28 A388: Nice livery, I like it. It's simple but very well recognisable as a Swiss airline of course. Good luck to Helvetic A388
29 Lsgg: Totally agree with this ! Fed up with non sense magenta !
