"LAN Airlines was once again honored and named the Best Company in South America at the recent World Airline Awards annual ceremony. The prestigious English market research company, SkyTrax, is the event organizer."

"The 2008 award results are based on an annual worldwide passenger survey conducted by SkyTrax. The survey, which was administered between August 2007 and June 2008, is the largest global survey given to airline passengers. Approximately 15 million passenger interviews were conducted by passengers who represented 95 different nationalities. The survey measured about 35 different aspects of passenger satisfaction when using the products and services of each company and evaluated the travel experience both on land and on-board."

"The study is named the World Airline Survey and is considered the principal reference tool on levels of satisfaction with worldwide airlines. The analytical format is unique and takes into account the opinion of passengers who travel for business and tourism in all class cabin levels (First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy)."

"Armando Valdivieso, LAN Airlines, CEO Passenger Business, stated, "It is a great honor to receive this recognition because it reflects passengers’ opinions from all over the world. Their preference is the best motivator for the efforts that we put forth daily in offering consistent and differentiating excellence in service, with the goal of offering the best travel experience."

Well, no surprise to me... we have a very good product here...sadly a lot of people here in the local market ( and in the South American neighborhood ), don't recognize that, and try to bash in the airline for political reasons ( or nationality issues ), but certainly we have a very good airline, not the biggest in terms of fleet or passengers, but certainly the best in terms of quality... I'm flying with them for 25 years now, and i remember many times they have recognition from surveys like this one.

¡¡ My congrats to all the LAN workers !!

Saludos.

Very true, LAN is an excellent airline and has a great product. LAN also flies to a variety of destinations worldwide. Service to Toronto starts next week. I agree with you that a lot of people don't recognize LAN's great service in the local markets that they serve; however, they still are the best. My congrats to all of LAN's dedicated employees as well! Well done LAN!

Hey.

CONGRATULATIONS TO LAN ! they really deserve it, they offer a good product and people recognize that, they are serious, punctual and have a very nice and kind staff. again congratulations to the big LAN team and keep up the good work. Hope to see my loved AV in a few years competing head to head with LAN, TAM, TACA etc for the best airline in S.A.

Cheers for LAN.

Lan Ecuador particulary keeps growing, hoping to get government approval to fly domestic as well.
Lan Ecuador currently flies daily from GYE to MIA, JFK, SCL & EZE and MAD

Not really a surprise, but nevertheless it's a good proper recognition to an airline that does what it needs to be an excellent choice. Does this award go to the entire LAN group or just to LAN (former Chile)?

I would have bet $$ that they were going to be granted this award, with the only competition maybe of TAM, but who else could compete against an airline with a modern fleet and an excellent customer service, not to mention a memeber of a major alliance.

The only problem of LAN? their prices!  Sad

Every time I fly to MAD I try to book through LAN but I always find their EZE-SCL-MAD to be very expensive compared to what IB offers non-stop. I wouldn't mind the extra flying hours for the same price, hell I'd even pay a little extra, but I always find it waaay more expensive.

saludos and congrats to a great airline  Smile

Congrats to LAN!!! Although if we are honest (as has already been said) there wasnt really any competition maybe aside from TAM.

I do however expect that TAM could well figure next year as a potential winner...guess we have to wait and see.

I like LAN very much. Their economy is by far the most comfortable I have ever travelled in and their OW membership is a massive bonus!

FELICITACIONES!!

Yes, we may see flights to the Galapagos soon, which will add another exotic Pacific destination to LAN's network. XL will be getting 3 new A-318s soon.

This award is for the entire LAN group.

Congratulations to LAN. They deserve this prize since they have invested in modernizing the fleet and standardizing their product.

However, I believe that within years, the Southamerican market is going to be really competitive with Avianca getting new aircraft, TAM expanding like a monster and TACA keeping doing their job. I only wish we had in Venezuela a truly flag carrier...

I just moved to Chile and booked my first flight on LAN to Calama in October. Only problem I have with them is that they are very expensive! Fortunately, I got this ticket R/T for only 68,000 pesos (approx. $150 USD).

As soon as you start to discover life in Chile, you'll find that THAT is cheap.

That's a good fare to Calma indeed. LAN does offer sales sometimes on their website; and also more LANPASS kilometers.

Hi, and welcome to this beautiful country, i'm a foreigner too but, trust me, in a few months you feel like home here, in fact, after 13 years living here, i can't think in any other country in the world to live, the people here is fantastic.
Now, back on topic, believe me, that fare is REALLY CHEAP ( 68.000 pesos = U$D 131 ).
If you go to the site of Turbus ( almost a copy of LAN's site ) and try to book a BUS round trip between Calama and Santiago, you pay 81.000 pesos, around 156 U$D ( 1 U$D = 519 pesos )... for a BUS trip, 20 hours each leg...

Saludos

The 763s have all been redone, and some are brand new. The cabins are very comfortable and the AVOD is amazing. I hope you have a great flight with LAN. I can't wait to see LAN's 763s with winglets.

In order to be surprised with them you have to fly their B767, otherwise you will be disappointed. All LA B767s have their new business class, which is very similar to the Recaro-style used in AM B77W, KL B77W, AF, etc.

LA is no doubt one of the best airline in the region and one of the major pluses is that its product is consitent: you always know what you will get!
