Posted (3 months 1 week 1 day 10 hours ago) and read 2845 times:

I am trying to idenify a photo in my collection.

It is clearly B707 based and seems to have CFM56's.

It has no external markings.

It has no refueling boom or antennae.

I did think of an E6, but there is no dorsal fairing.

I also considered an E8, but it has windows and no ventral fairing.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Sort of sounds like the

"707-700: A test aircraft used to study the feasibility of using CFM International's CFM56 powerplants on a 707 airframe and possibly retrofitting them to existing aircraft......"

According to Jet Air Production List, N707QT was sold to the Moroccan Govt in 1982. I saw this aircraft in 2006.

I am beginning to wonder about Israel, do any of their B707 have CFM56's.

The E6A was delivered to the USN without the Satcom hump. They were installed during the upgrade to E6B

The E6 of course does not have windows and does have wingtip electronic pods and the tail mounted antenna housing.

Boeing delivered the last one back to the USN in December 2006

The 707-700 was converted back to 707-320C configuration before delivery to Morocco, so it was pretty much a standard 707 from that point on.

Your inquiry reminded me of this aircraft - built as the only YE-8B (CFM-56 engines) and later delivered to the Royal Saudi AF with serial 1902. It is now designated as an RE-3B.

I will try to scan the picture at the weekend.

However it is probably not airliners quality, also I will have to scan the photo onto my computer and will probably lose some quality.

Anyway, I will do my best.

Incidentally, I will take another look at it, but I am sure that there were windows. That would seem to eliminate the E6 or YE8B.
