Quoting Asuflyer (Thread starter): A Philippine Military C-130 has gone missing with 9 onboard.
Thank you very much for posting. These are the only two operational Hercs of the Philippine Air Force, and they are very old. Maybe we'll know later which one had gone missing.

I hear it was actually an L100 that crashed and not a C-130. The former is a civilian version while the latter, military.
Tail # of the plane that crashed was 4593 formerly owned & operated by the Phil. Aerospace Dev't Corp, an arm of the Department of Transportation and Communication, that later transferred the plane to the PAF.

The wreckage has been located off of Samal Island. 9 crew members aboard assumed lost.
Local fisherman report the aircraft was struck by lightning after takeoff. The local rumor mill is abuzz with alternate explanations, partially fueled by the discovery of an improvised explosive device at an elementary school near the airport.

Where exactly is Samal Island? Was the aircraft involved in the recent fighting in Mindenao?
Two weeks ago two bombs exploed in my girlfriend's hometown of Iligan City, after the Filipino Army and PNP reconquered some districts, which had been occupied by the MILF a few wekks earlier.
My girlfriend's younger brother was sent down to Marawi City with his PNP unit to patrol infantry style last week .
