This trip report is pretty late and I wouldn’t have remembered some of the details but thanks to scribbled notes on boarding passes that I just found, plus having pics, I figured I’d post it.
October 7, 2007
Frontier Airlines #378
MKE – DEN departing 6:20 AM
Aircraft: A319
Registration: N948FR
Animal on Tail: Pete the Pelican
We arrived at MKE’s Remote Lot A at 4:30 AM, the parking shuttle saw us, followed us to our parking spot, and we were checking in at the Frontier counter in a matter of minutes. Went immediately through security with no delays or hassles, so stopped for breakfast then killed time at gate C14 until boarding. Boarding commenced at 5:45 AM, seats were 12E and F. Pushback was on time at 6:20 and we taxied over to runway 19R for a rolling takeoff. Routing took us over northern Illinois, across Iowa and over Grand Island, Nebraska. Up to then, it had been too dark to take any photos but got this shot of first sunlight on the wings.
Approach to DEN was over Sterling, CO, landing on runway 16R. We taxied over to Gate A38, disembarked and went immediately over to A51 where boarding was already in progress.
Frontier Airlines #851
DEN – PHX departing 8:25 AM
Aircraft: A319
Registration: N940FR
Animal on Tail: Jack the Rabbit
When we got to the gate, I saw that the plane featured my favorite Frontier animal, Jack the Rabbit. There was no time to get a pic but did get this one during the layover at DEN on the return trip.
Push back for the flight to PHX was on time at 8:20 AM
And we taxied over to runway 17R for a rolling takeoff. We headed straight south at first, but after passing over Colorado Springs, we turned southwest. We encountered some clear air turbulence over New Mexico and into eastern Arizona; it seemed that Jack the Rabbit decided to do some hopping on our flight!
After arrival on runway 8, we taxied over to Gate 20, off the plane, had to wait a bit for the luggage, before getting the rental car and stopping at In-N-Out Burger for lunch (they don't have those at home )

Frontier Airlines #424
PHX – DEN departing 10:00 AM
Registration: N950FR
Aircraft: A319
Animal on Tail: Bob the Bottlenose Dolphin
Arrived at Phoenix Sky Harbor around 8:00 after checking out of the hotel and turning in the rental car. We got checked in and through security so fast that we had about an hour and half till flight time, so grabbed some breakfast then just sat at the gate. Got a pic of this NWA 757 departing.
And then our plane arriving at Gate 20.
Our plane had arrived a bit behind schedule, almost as soon as passengers had deplaned, they were calling for boarding. Pushback was on time at 10 AM and we taxied out to Runway 7L. After takeoff, our routing took us over Roosevelt Dam, then later west of Flagstaff, AZ and over Farmington, NM.
Later in the flight, got a couple of pics over the Rockies.
That's Pikes Peak in the distance as we were descending for DEN.
On approach to DEN, we over flew the airport for landing on Runway 16R.
After landing, we taxied over to Gate A42, deplaned and headed over to the Mesa Verde Restaurant in Concourse A for lunch and hang out since we had over 2 hours before our departure to MKE.
Frontier Airlines #375
DEN – MKE departing 3:35 PM (delayed to 3:51 PM)
Registration: N936FR
Aircraft: A319
Animal on Tail: Earl the Walrus
We arrived at Gate A34 to find that our departure was going to be delayed for about 20 minutes due to refueling. We finally push backed at 4:15, taxing out to Runway 8.
Turning onto Runway 8.
Takeoff roll.
And as we are climbing out
Flight was pretty smooth and got a pic zeroed in on the winglet.
And one last picture right at dusk. It sure looks just like the first one posted in this thread but it's not.
Soon after that it was dark but there was enough moonlight through the clouds to see our descent to MKE. We were on approach to Runway 25L which passes the airport, out over Lake Michigan and makes the turn for the final approach over the lake. I always enjoy that approach into MKE. After landing on 25L, we taxied over to Gate C14, deplaned and headed home.
All in all, we have consistently booked Frontier for our regular trips out West since they started service at MKE in 2003. Service is great and all our flights have been enjoyable. In fact, we booked them for our upcoming vacation in October back in April in spite of the Ch.11 filing. Here’s hoping they can survive these turbulent times (no pun intended) for the aviation industry these days.

Cool TR! I would LOVE to fly F9 soon!

Cool! If I could choose an animal to fly, it would be Joe, Jim Jay, and Gary! Singing penguins are so cool

I was supposed to be on Jack the Rabbit a couple weeks ago MCI-DEN but the very nice ground staff at MCI got me on an earlier flight (for free!) with 2 minutes to spare, so I got to fly on Spike the porcupine.
Good report. I've pretty much switched to F9 for my PHX-MCI trips I take once or twice a year. They offer a good consistent product with friendly service....

StarAlliance38, Cactus739, Atrude777,
Thanks for your responses and good words on the report and pics!

I haven't flown Joe, Jim, Jay and Gary yet, but I have 4 opportunities coming up on my next trip to PHX in October.

Same here. We used to fly YX until Frontier started service out of MKE. Nothing against YX, but for flghts going West we found we had a lot more flight options and were willing to trade off connecting in DEN for those, instead of the limited number of nonstop flights. And I don't really mind DEN either.
Quoting Atrude777 (Reply 3): The wing of the A319 and A320 looks so pleasing to me and hit with the right amount of light looks nice!
Thanks, after I downloaded the pictures it seemed almost uncanny that I got very similar wing shots with similar lighting on the first and last flights of the trip. Enough that I thought I should point it out that they weren't duplicates.
Will post another F9 report after the next trip in October. Thanks, again, everyone.
